The Auto Colour feature is to be found on the "Format" ribbon.
Auto Colour is designed to give each series of branches coming from your core a different style.
(The colours defined through the auto colour dialog do not relate to the levels of branch in your map - i.e. All subsequent child branches will inherit their colour from their parent)
